4 days ski camp in Stranda
After 2 successful years of backcountry ski camps, we are changing the concept this year and going back to the ski resort. Again, we´re super stoked to bring you Kaj & Sverre for a long weekend of skiing.
On the first night, we’ll meet up at Stranda Hotel for presentation of the participants, coaches and guides for the weekend. It is important for us to know your expectations and objectives for this course. There will also be an opportunity to go thru your equipment and purchase or rent any missing gear.
The first evening will finish on a short lecture about avalanches and companion rescue. Further training and practice with avalanche rescue gear will happen on the following morning. You’re now ready for four incredible days of skiing!
Is this something for me?
The Camp is for everyone who’s keen on exploring the Sunnmøre alps around Stranda, together with a bunch of happy skiers. This is not a camp intended for extreme-skiers only, but for anyone who wants to have a good time improving their skiing skills. This is your opportunity to spend time with ski legends Kaj & Sverre, share a lot of laughter while picking their brains about all their skiing knowledge. Everyday, the group will be based on ski level and personal goals so that everyone gets a chance to push themselves and improve their skills.
Be a pro skier for a day
For one of our ski day, we will team up with photographer Håvard Myklebust to make our own photo shoot. Håvard is the man behind many of the pictures on our website and the photographer for the guidebook “Toppturar i Sunnmørsalpene”. Kaj & Sverre have been skiing in front of the camera for several decades and know exactly how to perform a good looking turn. Let us help you choose that perfect backdrop for that perfect skiing picture you’ve always wanted to put on office wall – sick huh?
We are proud to be the first company in Norway to offer avalanche backpacks to all our customers. If you ever get caught in an avalanche, an avalanche backpack is the only thing that decreases your chances of burial. We don’t want to take bigger risks because of these backpacks but we do want to offer all the safety-nets available on the market for the best, and safest, skiing experience possible.
Check in at Stranda Hotel on Wednesday night. That evening, you will also meet up with Kaj, Sverre and our guides at our office, just across the road from your hotel, for a presentation of all the participants and the coaches. We will also use this time to do some social mingling over a light meal.
After introducing all the necessary equipment for the ski camp, our staff will make sure everyone has what they need, including avalanche equipment for those who don´t have their own. This will be followed by a short lecture about companion rescue.
There will be opportunities to purchase selected products from Kask, Mammut, Dynafit and Uteguiden´s other partners. We also have a good selection of ski touring equipment for those who need to rent some for the camp.
After the breakfast buffet at the hotel, we will drive to Stranda ski resort.
Our day will start with a big group morning introduction or lesson. We will then split the whole group in two and focus on different things during the day based on course progression and participants needs. After lunch, coaches will switch groups. Throughout the whole camp our coaches and guides will strive to help you push your limits and learn as much as possible.
A short drive to town will get us back to your hotel for a cold beer in the bar, before we get ready for dinner.
The day will finish with an evening lecture by Kaj & Sverre.
Today, we will explore the ski resort in Stranda and get our hands on some fresh tracks. Again, we will be divided in smaller groups based on skills so that everyone gets the maximum out of the day. There are almost endless possibilities for skiing around Stranda and our guides and coaches will do everything they can to find you the best snow available.
We might even try to find some cliffs for those who are ready to get some air under their skis!
Dinner at the hotel and social hang out in the lobby bar afterward.
Third day and time for some ski touring. Today, you’ll have the possibility to do a ski tour on some of the mountains around Stranda. We will continue to develop on the topics we´ve gone through so far and take them a bit further, while hunting for more untouched snow.
Saturday means that Stova and Aprés ski is open at Stranda Skiresort. We will finish our ski day up there, so we can brag about the days achievement!
Transport back down to the hotel and dinner.
This is our last day of the camp and it´s time to drain that last little bit of strength out of your legs. The focus will be on backcountry skiing skills. Our guides and coaches will also try to answer any last minute questions and provide anyone an opportunity to try skills they haven’t had the chance so far.
Today’s tour will happen close to Stranda so that participants that have a long drive ahead or need to leave early have the possibility to do so.

Freeskiing camp 2016
What can we say, me and Ross are bruised, battered, aching after the weekends trip with Kaj, but what a weekend, it was AWESOME. Such good fun, a great bunch of guys, great snow, amazing skiing, your man Johan was a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and really friendly, constantly picking out good places and finding fresh tracks for us and on top of that we had the chance to ski with Kaj, it’s impressive to watch him go at mach 10 so effortlessly and his positivity and encouragement is infectious, it was just an all round fantastic weekend, a very cool set up, we thank you. – David Hallard
