We see a large increase in demand for our bike tours. We are therefore looking for a service-minded person who wants to contribute on our trips and in the office in Ålesund as a bike assistant and bike mechanic.

We have bases in Ålesund, Valldal and Stranda – most of our bike tours start in Ålesund, and this will be your base.

The position is seasonal, and lasts from June to August 2022. Extra work in the spring, and throughout the autumn is a possibilty.

The job as bike assistant and bike mechanic

As a bike assistant and mechanic in Uteguiden, you become part of an active team that always goes the extra lengths for our guests. As a bike assistant, you drive a support car during our week-long trips. You are ready with drinks and lunch for our guests and the main guide when needed, are ready with a extra bike in the car should the accident happen, and help with loading and packing luggage. Everything to make the trip as good as possible for our guests. In addition, there will be maintenance and repairs of our bike park of over 50 bikes, and rental of equipment and bicycles from the office in Ålesund.

Most of our groups are international, so you need to be able to speak English.

You need the following qualification

  • Class B driver’s license
  • Easy knowledge of repair and maintenance
  • First aid courses
  • Local knowledge
  • Nature, culture, and environmental knowledge

  • Ready for long days out for a trip with guests

What to expect

As part of Uteguiden you can expect to work with our bike rides and our bike park. There will be long days, where you will spend a lot of time with our guests. You will stay with guests in hotels or similar accommodation where you will be covered for board and lodging.

You become part of an experienced team that has access to many good equipment deals. You can expect to take part in guide training and social gatherings. For the right person, and the one who wants to stay with us for several years, will receive support for courses and further education. There will be good opportunities to develop into a cycling guide.
