Explore the Norwegian Alps from fjords to summits!
Four days of kayaking and hiking in the stunning unexplored Hjørundfjorden.
Fully guided trip with start and finish at our activity center in Ålesund. This trip includes highlights like kayaking in a magical fjord landscape, stunning view over the deep fjords and a hike to the summit of Mt Saksa. This trip is not a walk in the park, it´s 2 days with kayak and 2 days with hiking trips to beautiful summits. But if you are in a normal shape, sporty and have a positive attitude, it´s no problem for you.
Meet up and first day of kayaking
On Thursday morning you meet up with your guide down at our activity center, we get ready and put the kayaks into the fjord and start paddling all the way towards Molaupen, where we are suppose to spend the night. We paddling narrow the coastline and under bridges, crossing Storfjorden, on our way to Hjørundfjorden. If we are lucky we may see some wildlife, some porpoises or eagles. We are paddling passing coastal landscape, stop along the way for some lunch before we are gliding into a magical fjord and reaching Molaupen where we are going to spend the night. We put up our tents and can enjoy a good dinner with a stunning view over the fjord.
First day of hiking!
Friday morning we`ll eat a good breakfast before we jump in the kayak and start paddling to Trandal, here we switch from kayak to hiking gear and start to make our way to the summit of Trandalhatten. This is a long, steep and airy mountain with a stunning view. We will have lunch break along the way and be in an absolutely breathtaking environment. We will finish the hike and go back down to the fjord where we will have dinner and spend the night in our tents. If the group wants we can visit Christian gaard, a farm that has been rebuild into a guesthouse with serving. So if you want there is the possibility of a cold beer before we go to rest before tomorrow’s trip.
Time to conquer Saksa
Saturday we start the day with a big breakfast, jump into the kayak and paddle all the way to Urke. When we arrive Urke, we will begin todays hike to Saksa. This trail has been rebuilt by Sherpa’s and is now in really good conditions and contains a couple of steeper sections to get your heart pumping. The last part is actually stairways built in stones picked from the mountain. From the summit of Saksa we get to enjoy a breathtaking view over Hjørundfjord and we can also see all the way out towards Ålesund. After a lunch break at the summit we follow the trail back down to the kayaks. When we reach the fjord we put up our tents and enjoy a good dinner. From the campsite you can look up on mountains like Skårasalen, Slogen and tomorrows goal Saksa. In Urke they have their own small pub, called Urke kaihus where we can enjoy a well-deserved beer.
Time to round up and get back to society
Sunday is the last day and we enjoy a long and good breakfast, and maybe take a swim in the fjord. We put the kayaks into the fjord and get ready to paddle to Øye, the end of Norangsfjorden. Here we will be the end of this amazing kayak and hike trip. From Øye we will drive you back to Ålesund, to Brosundet where we finish our trip at our Activity Center.
