Nano Traino – a small sled with a big impact on mountain safety
When working as ski guides in steep and remote terrain, safety is always the top priority. Even with thorough planning, experienced guides, and good decision-making, accidents can still happen. An injury far from roads or ski lifts often means one thing: the injured person needs to be evacuated quickly and safely.

Over the past 12 years of operating here in Sunnmøre, we’ve been involved in a handful of client accidents. Almost every time, the challenge has been the same – getting the person down to the nearest road. Hypothermia quickly becomes a serious concern when someone is injured badly enough that they can’t ski down on their own, making rapid evacuation critical.
A compact solution to a serious challenge
Nano Traino is a lightweight, compact, and well-designed rescue sled developed specifically for these situations. With a minimum weight of just 440 grams (560 grams with hauling kit), this is a sled that actually gets carried on tours. It fits easily into a backpack and takes up very little space – a key factor on long days in the mountains.
Simple to use when it matters most
In emergency situations, there’s no room for complicated systems or improvised solutions that require extensive knowledge and training. Nano Traino is simple and intuitive to use, even under stress and in demanding conditions.
Of course, it’s possible to build an improvised rescue sled using skis, ropes, and a bivy bag – but this requires experience, training, and time. In real-life emergency situations, that can be challenging. Nano Traino provides a ready-made, reliable solution when you need it most.
Built for training and long-term use
The sled is durable and designed to withstand both training and repeated use in harsh winter environments. This makes Nano Traino an important safety tool not only for professional guides, but also for experienced ski tourers and freeriders who take mountain safety seriously.
