Uteguiden launches year-round RIB experiences from Ålesund

Uteguiden is taking an important step forward in the development of its sea-based experiences. With the addition of a new RIB boat, the Gemini Waveride 1060, we can now offer RIB tours throughout the year, with Ålesund as our permanent base.

The boat has been named Svinøy, inspired by the iconic lighthouse on the Sunnmøre coast, and will be officially christened later this spring.

New opportunities – all year round

Previously, our RIB season was limited to the period from May to October. Experience has shown, however, that Sunnmøre offers excellent conditions for sea-based activities well beyond the summer months. With Svinøy, we are now able to welcome guests on the water also during the winter season.

Many associate winter at sea with cold conditions, but comfort and safety are key priorities. All guests are provided with warm flotation suits, and we recommend wool base layers and warm footwear. During winter operations, speeds are adjusted to ensure a comfortable and safe experience without compromising the overall adventure.

A RIB boat designed for year-round operations

The new RIB is longer and wider than our existing boats and is equipped with radar, making it particularly well suited for year-round use in varying weather and light conditions.

Coastal Safari from Ålesund

Throughout the winter season, our main product will be the Archipelago Safari from Ålesund, a one-hour RIB tour with scheduled departures. The tour offers a unique opportunity to experience the Sunnmøre coastline from the sea – even in winter. Private and tailor-made RIB tours are also available in cooperation with tour operators.

The right expertise on board

As part of our year-round strategy, we appointed Arve Alvestad as Manager of Boat Operations in May. Originally from Sykkylven, Arve brings extensive experience from boat operations in demanding environments, including several years in the Arctic waters of Svalbard.

With Svinøy in the fleet and the right expertise on board, Uteguiden is well positioned to deliver safe, comfortable and memorable sea experiences – all year round.
