Bachelor and bachelorette parties

Uteguiden’s Best Tips for Bachelor and Bachelorette Parties! Here are some of our best suggestions to help you get started.

Our 6 Best Tips for Bachelor/Bachelorette Parties

1. Start planning early

If you leave it to the last minute, it quickly becomes stressful, and you’ll have fewer options to choose from. Figure out who’s joining, and involve the bride or groom in the first stage of planning (but keep the content secret!). Once you know potential dates, the number of participants, and an approximate budget, you can start thinking about activities.

2. Set a goal

Think about what you want the bride or groom to take away from the day. In our experience, the most successful events are those that focus on creating a fun and memorable experience for everyone, with the bride or groom at the center. Embarrassing the guest of honor doesn’t always create the best memories!

3. Mix activities and experiences – do something out of the ordinary

It’s not always easy to put together a program that everyone finds fun, exciting, and challenging in a diverse group. But if you include a mix of activities and experiences, it usually works out great! Combine simple activities like quizzes, scavenger hunts, or competitions with something you don’t usually do, and the day will be a success.

Suggestions for activities

This is what we specialize in, and we know the local offerings really well!

  • SUP in Brosundet – Start the day with a refreshing paddle through the heart of Ålesund.
  • Rafting or canyoning in Valldal – Probably the most popular bachelor/bachelorette activity in Sunnmøre, and always a hit! We run rafting from May to July, and canyoning from July to September.
  • Pentathlon and obstacle course – Compete both individually and in teams. Will it be the bride/groom or the best man/maid of honor who takes the victory?
  • In Valldal, you can also challenge each other with climbing, rappelling, and caving—or enjoy a calm fjord trip for a shared experience suitable for everyone.
  • Beer tasting at Trollbryggeriet – Always a popular way to kick off the evening! If the bride or groom isn’t into beer, how about sparkling cider tasting at Skarbø Farm?

4. Don’t forget the food!

It’s easy to overlook, but skipping meals can make the evening short-lived. Set aside time for good food and drink throughout the day. Keep in mind that if you’re taking part in activities, alcohol consumption is usually not allowed. Save the drinks for afterwards—the night will last much longer!

5. Plan at least one overnight stay

The day goes by fast, and it’s rare to gather so many of the bride’s or groom’s closest friends. This should be a memory for life, with time to spend together! Try to arrange at least one overnight stay. It doesn’t have to be expensive—ask us about our lavvu camp, which we often use for group packages.

6. Keep it a surprise and create great vibes!

Last but not least: plan well, keep the program a surprise, and maybe even the date itself! It makes everything more exciting and builds great energy throughout the event.
